      Description

      The Research Vessel Shinnecock, operated by the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University from the Southampton Campus, is designated as a Research Vessel by the U. S. Coast Guard and designed for educational and marine research in the bays and estuaries of Eastern Long Island.

      The hull is composed of an open platform deck, 34 ft. by 12-1/2 ft., (supported by 3 pontoons) providing a very stable work platform. A small, deck mounted davit is provided for lowering sampling devices.
