MALDI (Matrix-assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization) imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) is an effective method to provide molecular images of tissues in the molecular discovery process.  Dr. Bo Chen is responsible for managing MALDI imaging instruments, creating experimental protocols, and keeping records of all experiments. Dr. Chen performs MALDI imaging experiments and data analysis for frozen or formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues.  Bo Chen, PhD works closely collaborating with and supporting the users at the IMS Core facility.  This work allows for a direct correlation of tissue histology and proteomic, metabolomic or lipidomic information.   Dr. Chen’s additional research interests include developing complimentary proteomics experiments by means of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) as part of IMS workflows.
