Biography
Pritam Das received a bachelor's degree in electronics and communication engineering from the University of Burdwan in India. He also received a master's of applied science degree and a PhD, both in electrical engineering from the University of Western Ontario in 2005 and 2010, respectively.
From 2010 to 2011, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Queen's Centre for Energy and Power Electronics Research (ePOWER) at Queen's University. As a post-doctoral researcher he was involved in projects for developing single stage resonant multi-level high power, high efficiency converters for network servers and micro-inverters for PV applications. During his stay at Queen's University, he was also involved as a consulting Power Electronics Engineer with PE Consultants Inc. on a Freescale sponsored project for plug-in electric vehicles. He also worked for Murata Power Solutions where he was involved in research and development of high power AC-DC and DC-DC Converters conforming to 80Plus.Org Platinum efficiency standards for IT and telecom applications. Prior to joining Binghamton University, Das was an Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore and adjunct researcher at Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS).
He has one U.S. patent granted and four applied U.S. patents, and he has published over 100 technical papers in refereed journals and conferences. He is an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics. He is also a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics and IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics. He also founded PowerEff, a power solutions company
In 2023, he won a five-year, $537,959 NSF CAREER Award for his research on "Multi-level Bridge Tapped Resonant (MBTR) Solid-State Transformers (SSTs)."
