Simone Brioni is a filmmaker and Professor in the English Department at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. A specialist in migration studies, critical race and ethnicity studies, and film studies, his research examines literary and filmic representations and self‑representations of migrants, colonial photography, and the memory and legacy of past atrocities. His work also engages with collaborative artistic practices, the construction of alterity in science fiction, translation theory and practice, and questions of performativity and embodiment.
