Abstract

We have studied an unusual cutaneous lymphoma which elaborated a potent suppressor of lymphocyte proliferative responsiveness to antigens and mitogens. This suppressor was similar in extraction and function kinetics to a previously described inhibitor, lipid supressor substance (LSS). Thin-layer chromatography revealed a band derived from the patient's tumor which cochromatographed with LSS. High concentrations of LSS were found in the patient's serum. Other lymphoid tumors tested did not release LSS. The possible significance of this finding is discussed.
