Abstract

A theoretical model is proposed for the transformation processes in Pb monolayers of high coverages, underpotentially adsorbed on Ag(111). The basic assumption is that these processes are due to one-dimensional diffusion from a thin layer which under the experimental conditions is represented by the monolayer of adsorbed Pb atoms. The results of the model are in good agreement with previous experimental data. Several kinetic and energy parameters describing the transformation process are determined.
