Abstract
An elegant vectorial approach to consider arbitrary combinations of wind/ice/self-weight loadings on cables is formulated from a synthesis of the existing knowledge. Both the theory and practical considerations are discussed. The simplicity of the method and its implementation are respectively illustrated by an example and pertinent excerpts of source code taken from a commercially available program.
