Abstract
We investigate precise departures from h/e periodicity in Aharonov-Bohm oscillations observed in the low temperature magneto-resistance of quantum dots. Period-doubling is apparent over well defined ranges of magnetic field, outside of which the oscillations revert to their single period. The precise nature of the doubling is reflected in a Fourier analysis of the oscillations, and is also confirmed by the results of self-consistent calculations. While the origin of this effect remains unclear we discuss several possible mechanisms, and also briefly consider the conditions necessary for observation of frequency-doubled oscillations.
