Application of farstner interest operator to aerial image matching

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

We present experimental results obtained with the Foerstner interest operator that we have applied in our automatic orientation system. The orientation uses a feature-based, hierarchical matching approach. In order to obtain maximum possible accuracy for conjugate points, a precise point matching scheme is employed. With the approximations obtained from matching edges interest points are determined in conjugate image patches with the Foerstner interest operator. Matching interest points is performed by area corelation. We discuss the mathematical model on which the operator is based and focus on implementation details and experiences made with several stereo models.
