Abstract
This paper presents various experiments with automatic orientation in order to provide an adequate measure of potential accuracies. Results of the automated procedure are demonstrated and compared to ones obtained with an analytical plotter. Differences between points determined automatically and manually as well as the percentage of correct matches are examined as an indication of the accuracy and quality of the technique. The effect of image resolution on the achieved accuracies and the improvement of the results by the employment of image pyramids are also examined and analyzed. -from Authors
