Abstract
Atrial flutter (AFL) is characterized by rapid atrial activation with atrial rate usually between 240 and 320 beats per minute with a variable ventricular response depending on the status of AV conduction. One has to keep in mind that on occasion, atrial rate may be slower due to the use of antiarrhythmic medications (“poisoned flutter”), especially Type IA, IC agents or amiodarone.
