Abstract
Many definitions of authentic assessment have been proposed in order to distinguish it from other kinds of assessment (e.g., Darling- Hammond et al. 1995; Wiggins 1998). Darling-Hammond et al. (1995) posited that authentic assessment is designed to provide studentswith opportunities to demonstrate what they can do in a situation that requires the application and production of knowledge, rather than mere recognition or reproduction of correct answers. According to Darling-Hammond et al., authentic assessments are contextualized in students’ lives and learning experiences and so well-integrated into the teaching and learning process that they are indistinguishable from instruction.
