Abstract

An autumnal rainfall climatology for the Bahamas is established on the basis of daily rainfall data. A southward shift of the rainfall maximum from September through November across the region is indicated. Frontal systems from higher latitudes are important to the overall rainfall distribution. Confluent easterly flow in the wake of cold frontal passages is particularly apt to be associated with heavy precipitation, especially when low-level warm advection is present. -Authors
