Abstract

AUTHORS' SYNOPSIS: Injections of acetazolamide into the cisterna magna of anaesthetized dogs caused marked increases in cardiac output, common carotid blood flow, and arterial blood pressure. In contrast, injections of acetazolamide intravenously in much larger doses had little effect on systemic haemodynamics. These observations indicate that acetazolamide is capable of altering central autonomic activity.
