Abstract
We analyze the central part of the nucleon-nucleon potential between two Skyrmions, using a double expansion in the range and coupling constant. For undistorted pion fluctuations, our numerical results indicate that the pion-induced attraction in the central channel is strong enough to cancel the conventional repulsion in the intermediate range to leading order. The case of distorted pion fluctuations is briefly discussed.
