Abstract

The authors report the coherent coupling effect in the Mach-Zehnder interferometers, calculated by the beam propagation method. A novel structure is proposed for the design of ideal adiabatic waveguide Y-branches. The possibility of making the Y-branch ideally adiabatic has also been investigated.
