Abstract
Assuming that the energy of a strongly interacting Bose liquid can be written as a functional of the bare interaction and the pair distribution function, a set of generic equations for the pair distribution function is derived from postulating reasonable behavior for short and long distances. In their simplest version, these equations are identical to the Euler equations of the hypernetted chain theory, or the central equations of the local parquet diagram theory.
