Abstract
Selenide halides SbSeBr (I) and BiSeI (II) are prepared by the ampule method. The crystal structures of the phases are determined based on X-ray powder diffraction data with the Rietveld full-profile method. The crystals are orthorhombic, space group Pnam. The unit cell parameters for I: a = 8.3201(3) Å, b = 10.2313(4) Å, c = 4.0163(1) Å, Z = 4; for II: a = 8.7035(2) Å, b = 10.5796(2) Å, c = 4.21879(6) Å, Z = 4. In both structures, which are related to the SbSBr structural type, double strips constituted by metal and selenium atoms and bonded together by halogen atoms may be distinguished.
