Abstract

By now, Roth had for a considerable time successfully modeled a way of negotiating similar conflicting demands. Indeed, in 1994 she received an honorary doctorate from the San Francisco Art Institute for her art activist work. Her scholarship at the time tended toward short but pithy engagements with the work of American artists, primarily women, of highly diverse backgrounds - in both written and lecture formats, and often in a diaristic mode.
