Digitalization and ICT in Social Work Education: A Scoping Review

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Digital technologies or information and communication technologies (ICTs) are essential tools for enhancing educational learning outcomes. These technologies can be harnessed by social work educators for greater engagement and to foster critical thinking of social work students. However, there has been a lack of research that highlights how digital technologies are being used in social work education. This scoping review provides an overview of how digital technologies are being used, the facilitators and challenges of using them, and their impact on social work education globally. The findings of this study indicate an explicit need to increase the digital competencies of social work students and address the technology training needs of social work educators.
