Ductile seismic retrofits of steel deck-truss bridges

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

Deck-truss bridges designed without consideration of seismic loads may suffer severe damage in the event of a large earthquake. A proposed retrofit solution consists of introducing ductile devicesas "structuralfuses"to protect both the superstructureand substructureofthese bridges. Ductile panels having suchfuses are designed to replace the end and lower-end panels of decktruss bridges.
