Abstract
The interaction of an M-level atom with a single mode of a cavity field initially in a squeezed state is investigated in this paper. The time evolution of nonclassical characteristics of the field, such as the field squeezing, antibunching, and sub-Poisson distribution, is computed and discussed in detail. It is found that the initial coherent excitation strength has crucial influence on how such nonclassical behavior can be maintained in the propagation of squeezed light.
