Abstract
The effect of an inhomogeneous magnetic field present in an experimental environment on the exchange energy of a double quantum dot artificial molecule was investigated. The molecule was projected to be used as a two-qubit quantum gate in the proposed quantum dot quantum computer. The dependence of the exchange coupling on the inhomogeneity of the magnetic field was studied. Two different theoretical methods were used to calculate the Hilbert space structure in the presence of the inhomogeneous field.
