Abstract

The theoretical impact flow rate and bifurcation geometry on shear rate gradients in divergent bifurcations was examined. A 3-D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) program was used to model Newtonian flow through a divergent arteriolar bifurcation. The resultant data was analyzed in detail.
