Abstract
This paper considers specification and estimation of technical efficiency using the stochastic production frontier technique in a rotating panel data environment. The maximum likelihood method is developed to estimate both the parameters of a translog production function and technical efficiency for each production unit over time. The efficiency measures derived in this paper are free from time-invariant individual-specific effects.
