Abstract

This study concerns the development of a micro-cracking model for estimating thermal transport properties of composite laminates in high temperature environments. A modified shear-lag model is developed to account for the effects of thermal expansion and crack gas pressure. Local solutions from the model are presented showing the sensitivity of crack width from thermal expansion and pressure loadings.
