Evoked Potentials

To the Editor: Chiappa and Ropper have provided a timely review of evoked potentials (EPs), coupled with a valuable discussion of conditions in which such studies may have a useful role (May 20 issue).¹ Although abnormalities of brain-stem auditory EPs associated with acoustic neuroma and other disorders were noted, we wish to add an inherited disorder in which EPs may be useful, particularly for genetic screening. Neurofibromatosis with bilateral acoustic neuromas (central neurofibromatosis) is an autosomal dominant disorder.
