Abstract

The spectral characteristics of a ZSG host doped with approximately 0.5 at.% Er were studied and the absorption and emission cross-sections at 1.5μm determined using the Ladenburg-Fuchtbauer (l-F) relationship. The potential of ZSG for integrated waveguide amplifiers was confirmed.
