Abstract
Different aspects of gamma-ray bursts and the studies conducted using space-based radiation instrument, were discussed. Studies conducted by NASA's Gamma Ray Observatory (GRO) show that gamma ray bursts were distributed isotropically. In the year 1997, astronomers at Italian-Dutch BeppoSAX satellite located the burst point by pointing their X ray telescope and were able to detect the fading 'afterglow'. It is stated that the gamma-ray bursts were unexpected and flared brighter than any other object in the sky before vanishing without trace within few seconds.
