Abstract

This paper discusses the design, development, and testing of a compact multi-channel data acquisition instrument capable of performing human body measurement and processing. The cost of the proposed Multi-channel Analog Signal Acquisition (MASA) instrument is a fraction of that of the data acquisition system used with current digital stethoscopes. It allows for the sampling of up to 32 heterogeneous signals with a single high speed Analog to digital Converter taking into account the performance as well. Heterogeneous sampling rates are identified for each channel, and optimized for best data quality with minimal storage requirement.
