Abstract

Esophageal perforation in the neonate is uncommon but requires a prompt diagnosis in order to prevent further complications. We describe a case of a premature neonate presenting with bloody oropharynx aspirate after orogastic tube placement. Findings on plain film radiograph were consistent with esophageal perforation. Due to the patient's hemodynamic stability, the patient was treated non-operatively with favorable results. The current management of esophageal perforation in the neonate is a non-operative approach.
