Abstract

This paper describes a framework that can be used to effect `design for manufacturing' and concurrent engineering in the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assembly domain. The system described uses object oriented programming and blackboard architecture. It is intended to assist the design engineer during the conceptual design phase of a surface mount PCB.
