Abstract

Overview: Desmoid type fibromatosis is a rare, histologically benign neoplasm. Despite the lack of metastatic potential, they are locally aggressive and can exhibit rapid growth, often mimicking sarcomas. The most frequent sites of occurrence include the shoulder, chest wall and thigh. Intrathoracic involvement, although reported, is uncommon. We report a case of desmoid type fibromatosis incidentally discovered as a mediastinal mass which extended superiorly to involve the prevertebral space of the neck.
