Abstract
A hybrid object-oriented approach for knowledge representation in a Knowledge-Based System for bridge fatigue evaluation is described. The conceptual development and implementation of the approach are discussed, illustrating the use of object-oriented representation for some but not all of the knowledge elements in the domain and hybrid elements for the remainder.
