Abstract
A magnetoelastic Rayleigh wave delay line utilizing ZnO transducers has been constructed and operated as a convolver with 83-Mhz input signals. An internal bilinearity factor F(int) of minus 31 dbm has been obtained indicating highly efficient convolver performance which is equal to that of the best Si-LiNbO//3 convolver. The relatively high efficiency of the ZnO transducers represents a significant advance over the previously reported epoxy-bonded LiNbO//3-YIG-LiNbO//3 and meander-line structures used for exciting magnetoelastic Rayleigh waves.
