Abstract
Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD), which constitutes the major cause of mortality among the diabetic population. Hypertension is twice as common in the such groups than it is in unaffected individuals and accounts for nearly 80 % of CVD risk in such cases. This book provides a concise overview from prominent international scholars of hypertension management in diabetes, drawing on clinical evidence and pathophysiologic insights. The book addresses both pharmacological and non-pharmacological management. There is a separate chapter dedicated to the implications of recent clinical trials for the role of angiotensin receptor blockers, and the book concludes with an overview of treatment recommendations and consensus guidelines.
