Abstract

Transmasculine genital reconstructive surgery is an important part of gender affirmation for many transgender men. Metoidioplasty and phalloplasty are the two genital reconstructive options that exist for the creation of a neophallus. The unique anatomy of the neophallic urethra and specific surgical steps in its construction can lead to several urologic complications, including urethrocutaneous fistulas, persistent vaginal cavities, and urethral strictures. The role of a urologist in evaluating and treating these complications is imperative. This chapter will discuss the urologic complications following genital reconstructive surgery in addition to the surgical techniques that can be used to manage these complications.
