Abstract
For older patients, management of atrial fibrillation requires carefully assessing the underlying substrate; choosing the most appropriate pharmacologic agents for individual patients, paying close attention to drug actions, metabolism, and half-life; anticoagulating patients when appropriate; and referring them if necessary for interventional procedures and devices.
