Abstract
The self-assembly of an alkyl-propoxy-ethoxylate surfactant in aqueous solution has been investigated with a focus on (i) the thermodynamics of micellization and (ii) the structure of the micelles. The results are compared to those for alkyl-ethoxylate amphiphiles with the aim to elucidate the role of the middle, propoxy, block in this novel alkyl-propoxy-ethoxylate surfactant, which exhibits a "graded" hydrophobic-hydrophilic character.
