Modelling technical and allocative inefficiency in a translog production function

Abstract

This paper develops a method of estimating technical and allocative inefficiency for each firm using a translog production function. Based on expected profit maximization hypothesis, the method uses the production function and the first order conditions as the basis of parameter estimation.
