Multi Band Antenna System for Energy Harvesters

Abstract

Design, and simulation of dual band planar antenna system for energy harvesting applications is given. The dual band antenna system is based on the modeling and design of microstrip octagonal patch antenna. The proposed dual band antenna has good bandwidth, gain and radiation characteristics at the frequency of interests. It has also lower profile in comparison to conventional microstrip patch antennas. The dual band antenna system is also interfaced with dual band rectifier system in the energy harvester. The performance of the antenna investigated when integrated with dc-RF rectifier and matching network. The simulation and measurement results for dual band antenna system are presented and critical antenna performance parameters when integrated with dual band energy harvesting system is discussed.
