Abstract
Microdisk lasers with rough boundaries an investigated using the finite-difference time-domain method. Two types of rough boundaries are considered. The first is a sinusoidal roughness, and the second is a random Gaussian function generated by a Monte Carlo method. Results indicate that rough boundaries can affect the scattering loss and the resonant wavelength and can create modal coupling.
