Abstract

A study was presented on novel liquid crystalline phase above the bulk-melting temperature. The poly(n-alkyl acrylate) comb polymers of different alkyl side chain lengths were synthesized. The results for the comb polymer with twenty-one methylene and one-methyl unit side chains were discussed. The bulk-melting and crystallization temperatures were 64.9 °C and 60.8 °C which were measured using differential scanning calorimetry at cooling and heating rates of 0.3 °C/min.
