Abstract
We evaluated the usefulness of a number of the most widely used "small airway tests" in separating a group of 60 young (20 - 35 years) healthy cigarette smokers from a matched group of 50 nonsmokers. Only the Viso {Mathematical expression}, CV/VC, and CC/TLC separated both male and female smokers and nonsmokers. In addition, these tests correlated with the smoking index and detected 18% - 24% abnormalities when compared with mean values for the nonsmoking control groups.
