Permeation of implanted deuterium through Ni

Abstract

The permeation of deuterons implanted with 2-22 keV into 25 μm thick cold-rolled Ni-foils was studied at temperatures between 264 K. and 600 K. and compared to theoretical calculations. At low temperatures diffusion is delayed by trapping in the bulk. At high temperatures the permeation rate is enhanced due to recombination effects at the irradiated surface.
