Abstract
About 5 m of aphyric to phyric basalt were recovered from this NW Pacific Ocean site and analysed. All 13 samples are aluminous N-type mid-ocean basalts. The two groups are based on TiO2 and FeO contents: the least evolved consists of 18% plagioclase, 24% clinopyroxene, and 3% olivine; the more evolved has 18% plagioclase, 11% clinopyroxene and 3% olivine. -K.A.R.
