Phase locking of the Bloch oscillations in ultrasmall Josephson junctions

Abstract

We have shown that in the case when the quasiparticle conductance GT of an ultrasmall Josephson tunnel junction and ohmic conductance GS of its ohmic enviroment are both present, the Bloch oscillations (in contrast to the SET oscillations which are accompanying them in the junctions with weak Josephson coupling) can be perfectly phase locked only in weakly shunted junctions, GS«GT.
