Abstract
Benign neoplasms arising from adenohypophysis and are reviewed within the context of tumors of endocrine organs in WHO classification schemes. Represent the most common lesion of the pituitary fossa/sella region. Most are sporadic, although a small percentage arise in the context of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN) type 1, in association with hyperplasia/neoplasia of the pancreas and parathyroid adenomas. They are distinctly less common in children than in adults; less than 10% of all pituitary adenomas present in the pediatric age group.
