Abstract

A new porous carbon in the form of carbon bonded short carbon fibers was developed. Attractions of the new porous carbon lie in the low contact and volume electrical resistivity, good chemical and thermal stability, a low coefficient of thermal expansion, high porosity and good mechanical integrity. Such a material is expected to have a wide range of applications, including the following: as a heat sink material, and as an electrode material.
