Abstract

In order to extend preservation time for heart transplant, cryothermic immersion storage was studied in a rat heart isograft model. Rat hearts preserved at -2 to 0°C for up to 96 h were successfully transplanted with no deleterious effects noted on defrosting and reperfusion with long-term survival beyond 60 days of transplant
